Its Finally here #ToMB first official post or our Starting Post.
I’m jumping fully into the Ice Queen herself Rasputina. Okay what does that mean? This means for the next few months I’ll be building up this crew to fully functional. You’ll see how I’m growing it, the budget I’m using to make this dream come true as well as my though process on the tactics and the purchases I’m making. In a word you’ll see the why of how I build and play my Rasputina. So like everyone else I’m starting with the Assumption you have purchased a rulebook and the Arcanists arsenal Deck. The arsenal deck opens up a lot of upgrades for your crew as well as gives you the most current rule cards for models in the first wave of malifaux that Rasputina can take. So after that I have a budget of $60 dollars Us. So I picked up the $45 Children of Decembers boxset leaving my $15 that will carry over to the next months budget. Each month after this we are assuming a $25 dollar budget to grow our crew and our options. So Next month because of my savings this month I’ll have $40 to spend.
Okay so what does my $45 initial investment net me. I.e. Whats in the box

In Game terms prior to upgrades the box Weights in at 25ss before upgrades. With upgrades its very easy to stretch the boxset to 35ss games which is where I recommend you start with the ice Witch.
Okay how does she play outta of the box.
Raspy’s stick is looping her spell Decembers Curse throw friendly models with frozen heart onto the heads of her enemys through the ice mirrors ability. This ability lets rapsy have a 22″ threat range. How we get that, she uses a frozen heart minion in los and within 1-‘ that isn’t engaged with the opponent to draw los and range to the target Decembers curse has a 12″ range so we can cast through or mirror our spells at great distances with only a minor los of Ca # and teh removal of our triggers. Now there is an upgrade called Shatter Heart that allows us to cast at full strength as well as declare triggers while casting in this manor. Pretty powerful right. Yes it is.
Raspy also out of the box has the ability to up models armor and give out Frozen heart to models that don’t have it. This ability is Decembers Touch and is incredible powerful. To give you an idea of the base box set trick this opens up, is to make your Ice Golem for from armor +2 to armor +4 thus meaning a base attack would have to do 6dmg to him before it would do more than 1 dmg to him. this spell can also be used a the 22″ range and can be used to make none Frozen Heart minions have frozen heart as well as the armor benefit. This is one of the strongest powers raspy has that will be often overlooked.
Freeze Over- Raspy has the ability to freeze models in games terms this is a 6″ ranged spell that the target model and all non leader models in base contact with it gain the paralyzed condition. Okay more boxset tricks time. All models with Frozen heart are immune to paralyze. This means you can run your gamin up into base contact with your opponent and then provided either raspy is within6″ or if you have another frozen heart model within 6″ of the engagement and 10″ and los of raspy you can paralyze the opponent without anything happening to your model as you are immune to paralyze. To further synergy with this, the wendigo can devour living models that are ht1 or are under the paralyzed condition. This removes them from play upping your killing power and providing even more value to the wendigo.
Ice Golem- the Great and power full Ice golem. there a lot of tricks will be going over with him in future post. The outta of the box trick is the Toss. This allows him to push friendly ht 1 models within 1″ of him up to 10″ in any direction with some potential for dmg. This allows you to toss the gamin forward to get them up field to enhance raspy spell range and threat.
Okay that’s enough for the first night for you to chew on. But those are some starting out of the box tactics will go more into this in our next post as well as painting update
